Ultimate Fizzy Ice Tea

It`s summertime! There is nothing better than an ice cold drink to keep us refreshed during the day. Or why not a replacement of the coffee?! Even though the tea contains less caffeine than the coffee, it is a way more refreshing and energizing!

There are hundreds, even thousands of kinds of homemade ice tea. However, most of them with loads of ice, therefore, get really watery. As huge tea lovers, we really don`t like our tea too watery and weak, so this is how the idea of our fizzy ice tea was born! The secret is in the preparation process. To avoid our tea getting too watery, we made iced tea cubes instead which we combined with different fruit juices and syrups. We top up with soda water for a fizzy taste and add fresh herbs for more aroma. The result was really delightful! Actually, this drink became our morning dose of caffeine and we really don`t miss coffee at all! We are going to show you three different types of ice tea, however, this recipe is limitless! You could improvise and mix hundreds of different juices, syrups, and herbs. Or why not to make some cocktail with it? 🙂

The first and most important part is to make the tea properly.

You could use green, white, or black tea, however, if you want to avoid caffeine, you could even use herbal or fruit tea. It`s recommended to use tea leaves, however, if you don`t have, tea bags work too. It`s important to know that green and white tea should NEVER be made with boiling water. The recommended temperature for green tea is 80°C, unlike the black that has to be made with very hot, almost boiling water. Do not over brew your tea. Three to four minutes are more than enough.

When the tea is ready, let it cool down, then pour it into ice trays, and freeze. Optionally, add fresh herbs or edible flowers in the ice trays before you pour the tea, so you could get colorful ice cubes.

And finally, it`s time for the recipes! 🙂

The directions are the same for all types:

  1. Add the iced tea cubes into a glass.
  2. Pour all non-fizzy drinks over the ice.
  3. Top up with soda.
  4. Syrups always add last.
  5. Garnish as desired.

You could prepare a jug of ice tea for the whole family. Add no more than 20 iced tea cubes per a liter of ice tea to avoid getting too strong. You don`t want to start shaking, do you? 🙂
